"The result is a delightful programme of melodies and melodic invention performed with refinement by baritone Malcolm Greene and pianist and organist John Kitchen on fortepiano, a somewhat clangorous precursor of the pianoforte which lends a suitably authentic late 18^th century flavour to the material. Highlights include Neil Gow’s lively “Loch Eroch Side”, the sombre “Roslin Castle” and the tender, traditional “Yellow Hair’d Laddie” whose variations by J C Bach are the most musically substantial – but even the more lightweight confections are a treat."
