ED LYON

THEATRE OF THE AYRE

Tenor Ed Lyon performs Stefano Landi's iconic 'Passagalia della vita' in recording sessions of his debut album 17th Century Playlist released on Delphian and named by Presto Classical as '2019 Debut Album of the Year'.

Life and death are intertwined and become as one: die we must .... bisogna morire

SEAN SHIBE

Sean Shibe performs Steve Reich's Electric Counterpoint in 'Scotland's Secret Bunker' - an innocent looking farmhouse in Anstruther, Fife, which contained one of Scotland's best-kept secrets: a secret nuclear military base, built in 1951 and operational until 1993.

The composer himself called this performance the best he'd ever heard... find out more about Sean Shibe's softLOUD here.

THE MARIAN CONSORT

The Marian Consort perform William Byrd's Miserere meiin Crichton Castle, East Lothian.

Despite being a sunny day, the singers are plunged into the castle cellar darkness - a tribute to those who would have gathered to sing this music for the first time, under pain of death following Henry VIII's turbulent reformation.

RACHEL MAHON

Director of Music at Coventry Cathedral (UK) Rachel Mahon performs Healey Willan's mighty 'Introduction' - the title track of her critically-acclaimed debut album 'Canadian Organ Music on the Organ of Coventry Cathedral.

Filmed after-hours in Sir Basil Spence's striking new Coventry Cathedral, built next to the ruins of its bombed-out mediaeval predecessor.

"Glowing performances by the Choir of Merton College Oxford, supported by various instrumental accompaniments ... Nico Muhly’s music features prominently, a particular highlight being his A Hymn on the Nativity, its golden choral textures offset by beguiling harmonic diversions and lightly sensitive organ writing .. Tracks by the younger David Lang are equally distinctive, translating minimalism techniques to an ecclesiastical setting ..."

SEAN SHIBE

Guitarist Sean Shibe turns to the music of J. S. Bach for his third album on Delphian, with three works whose obscure early performance history belies their status as repertoire staples for modern guitarists.
